Gephyrin protein - 147-1P

Gephyrin is a scaffolding protein associated with inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors
control protein
Cat. No.: 147-1P
Amount: 100 µg
Price: $105.00
Cat. No. 147-1P 100 µg protein, lyophilized. For reconstitution add 100 µl H2O to get a 1mg/ml solution in TBS. Then aliquot and store at -20°C to -80°C until use.
Control proteins should be stored at +4°C when still lyophilized. Do not freeze!
Applications

Immunogen Recombinant protein corresponding to AA 326 to 768 from rat Gephyrin (UniProt Id: Q03555)
Recommended dilution Optimal concentrations should be determined by the end-user.
Matching antibodies 147 004, 147 103
Remarks

This control protein consists of the C-terminal part of rat gephyrin (aa 294 - 736). It has been tested in preadsorption experiments and blocks efficiently and specifically the corresponding signal in Western blots experiments with the monoclonal antibody, clone 3B11. It is not suitable for the monoclonal antibody, Clone mAb7a and the polyclonal antibody! The amount of protein needed for efficient blocking depends on the titer and on the affinity of the antibody to the antigen.

Background

Gephyrin is a bifunctional protein which is essential for both synaptic clustering of inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors in the central nervous system and the biosynthesis of the molybdenum cofactor (MoCo) in peripheral tissues. It co-purifies with the inhibitory glycine receptor (GlyR) and is expressed abundantly in all brain areas which contain synapses.
