Tectonin beta-propeller repeat-containing protein 1 (TECPR1) consists of two WD-repeat domains (TR), two dysferlin domains, an unstructured region and a PH domain (1). It is involved in autophagy by promoting autophagosome fusion with lysosomes (2) by associating with the ATG5-ATG12 conjugate and phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate (PtdIns3P) present at the surface of autophagosomes (3). TECPR1 has also been shown to participate in selective autophagy against bacterial pathogens (4) and aggrephagy of protein aggregats that accompany neurodegenarative diseases (5).
