50 µg specific antibody, lyophilized. Affinity purified with the immunogen. Albumin and azide were added for stabilization. For reconstitution add 50 µl H2O to get a 1mg/ml solution in PBS. The glycoprotein prosaposin is a precursor oft the sphingolipid activator proteins saposins A, B, C, and D also called (SAP-A, SAP-B, SAP-C and SAP-D). Prosaposin is targeted to lysosomes where it is proteolytically processed to the final SAP products.
Saposins are indispensable for lysosomal hydrolysis of sphingolipids and the lack of each saposin leads to a lysosomal storage disease. Sap-D-deficient mice accumulate ceramides with hydroxylated fatty acids mainly in brain and kidney.
