Glucose transporter type 3 (Glut3), also known as Slc2a3, belongs to the facilitative glucose transporter protein family which comprises of 13 members. It is an integral membrane protein with 12 transmembrane domains. Glut3 is the glucose transporter responsible for maintaining an adequate glucose supply to neurons. It is also expressed in the placenta and testis.
