This control peptide consists of the synthetic peptide (aa 414-430 in rat CtBP 1) that has been used for immunization. It has been tested in preadsorption experiments and blocks efficiently and specifically the corresponding signal in Western blots. The amount of peptide needed for efficient blocking depends on the titer and on the affinity of the antibody to the antigen. |

CtBP 1 and its close relative CtBP 2 interact with various transcription factors through a PLDLSL motif enhancing transcriptional repression. While CtBP 2 shows a restricted expression pattern CtBP 1 is abundantly expressed in the retina and the brain, where it locates to the nucleus and synaptic nerve terminals.
