Background
Cytohesins are a group of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) that contain an N-terminal coil, a central Sec-7 and a C-terminal pleckstrin homology (ph) domain.
They control the activity of ADP-ribosylation factors (Arfs) and are involved in the control of vesicular transport and organization of the actin cytoskeleton.
Cytohesins have also been reported to bind to integrins, a diverse family of heterodimeric transmembrane adhesion receptors that are present on most vertebrate cell types. These proteins are known to be involved in cell-cell or cell-matrix interactions.
