Polyclonal antibodies are a finite resource. We have now started to sell the last lots of our well received rabbit polyclonal GAD1 / GAD67 antibody 198 003. It will be replaced by our new rabbit monoclonal recombinant IgG GAD1 / GAD67 antibody 198 208.

GAD1 / GAD67 antibody - 198 003

GAD1 and 2 are involved in the synthesis of GABA, the major inhibitory neurotransmitter
Rabbit polyclonal purified antibody
Cat. No.: 198 003
Amount: 50 µg
Price: $375.00
Cat. No. 198 003 50 µg specific antibody, lyophilized. Affinity purified with the immunogen. Albumin and azide were added for stabilization. For reconstitution add 50 µl H2O to get a 1mg/ml solution in PBS. Then aliquot and store at -20°C to -80°C until use.
Antibodies should be stored at +4°C when still lyophilized. Do not freeze!

Background

The glutamic acid decarboxylases GAD1, also referred to as GAD67, and GAD2 / GAD65 synthesize γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. The hydrophilic GAD1 can heterodimerize with the membrane achored GAD2 and part of GAD1 is targeted to inhibitory nerve terminals by this mechanisms. Although both proteins exhibit significant differences in their N-terminus they share high homology in the rest of the molecule.
GADs are widely used markers for the GABAergic system. In type 1 diabetes GAD1 has been identified as a major autoantigen.
