The Actin-binding protein 1 (ABP 1) also known as SH3P7, Dbnl or Debrin-like protein binds to actin filaments especially at sites that represent cellular growth.
In neurons ABP 1 has been shown to interact with the scaffoliding PSD proteins Shank 2 and Shank 3. This suggests an involvement in activity-dependent reorganizations of the cortical actin cytoskeleton necessary for synaptic plasticity.
