SynCAM3 peptide - 243-3P

SynCAMs are synaptic adhesion molecules of the Ig superfamily
control peptide
Cat. No.: 243-3P
Amount: 100 µg
Price: $105.00
Cat. No. 243-3P 100 µg peptide, lyophilized. For reconstitution add 100 µl H2O to get a 1mg/ml solution in PBS. Then aliquot and store at -20°C to -80°C until use.
Control peptides should be stored at -20°C when still lyophilized!
Applications

Immunogen Synthetic peptide corresponding to AA 171 to 185 from mouse SynCAM3 (UniProt Id: Q99N28)
Recommended dilution Optimal concentrations should be determined by the end-user.
Matching antibodies 243 303
Remarks

This control peptide consists of the synthetic peptide (aa 171 - 185 of mouse synCAM 3) that has been used for immunization. It has been tested in preadsorption experiments and blocks efficiently and specifically the corresponding signal in Western blots. The amount of peptide needed for efficient blocking depends on the titer and on the affinity of the antibody to the antigen.

Background

Development of synapses involves transsynaptic interactions of dedicated synaptic adhesion molecules like neuroligins, neurexins and synCAMs (Synaptic cell adhesion molecules). Four SynCAM isoforms have been described so far. All share a common domain structure and contain three extracellular Ig domains, a single transmembrane region, and a short COOH-terminal cytoplasmic tail.
SynCAM 2 has been shown to be associated to myelinated axons and synCAM 3 can serve as a receptor for herpes viruses.
